Hi, My name is Yuqi. I'm an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) working with individuals of all ages, as well as couples and families. My therapeutic approach is very integrative, holding a relational and collaborative framework while also drawing from evidence-based approaches such as CBT and DBT when it helps.
I do have a particular focus on trauma work (CPTSD, developmental trauma, acculturation trauma). Sometimes words are not enough to hold what we have been through; our experiences can also live in the body and outside our immediate awareness. If you want to explore trauma, we can work together at your pace through conversation (psychodynamic, talk-based), trauma-focused treatment (EMDR, IFS, somatically-grounded), and expressive work (expressive writing, art therapy).
Also, as a BIPOC and bilingual clinician (English and Mandarin), I hope I can provide culturally humble and linguistically accessible care to people who need it. My past experience studying and living in various places (China, UK, Boston, the Bay Area in CA). have shaped how I see people and the world: with humility, curiosity, and openness toward differences and the unknown, meanwhile, staying attentive to injustice and willing to act against it.

In my spare time, I enjoy binge-watching, writing, and journaling as ways to recharge and reconnect with myself. With journaling and writing, I’ve found them to be helpful tools (in some ways, a way of living) for understanding my unconsciouness, reprocessing past experiences, and giving difficult emotions or inner tension a place to go. That’s also why I’m interested in incorporating expressive writing into my therapy work.

I binge-watching TV shows and movies a lot, and I have a particular love for zombie and apocalypse films, they weirdly help me decompress.
