Family Therapy
Families change—and sometimes that change is hard. Family therapy offers a guided space to communicate, set healthier boundaries, and practice new skills so home feels calmer and more connected.
Our approach:
We tailor care to your family’s needs using evidence-based methods like Emotion-Focused, Family Systems, Solution-Focused, CBT, play-based strategies for kids, and DBT-informed skills practice.
You’ll learn concrete ways to listen, problem-solve, and reconnect.
Who we help:
-
Parents and caregivers navigating stress, co-parenting, or separation/divorce
-
Kids and teens working through big feelings, school challenges, or transitions
-
Blended, multigenerational, and chosen families wanting clearer roles and routines
Practical details:
Session length: typically 52 minutes (extended sessions available)
Who attends: depends on your goals; we’ll plan this together in the intake
Getting started: brief consult → intake → first session with a simple plan
What sessions are like:
-
Collaborative: We meet with the people who are part of the concern (together and, when useful, individually).
-
Goal-focused: You’ll leave with practical tools to try between sessions.
-
Flexible: In-person in San Mateo/San Carlos and secure telehealth across California.
