Navigating Grief Through the Holidays Support Group

This group is ideal for those who want to:

  • Feel less isolated in their grief

  • Find comfort in shared experiences

  • Develop coping strategies for holiday-related triggers

  • Honor memories through meaningful rituals

  • Approach the season with more confidence and self-compassion

Schedule: Thursdays at 6:00 p.m. (Pacific Time)

Duration: 6 weeks

Location: Telehealth (secure Zoom)

Cost: Private pay only – $125 per person, per session

Facilitator: Lindsey Smith, AMFT

Investment: $750 total
This group is divided into two payments of $375 to make participation more accessible.

Christmas

Week 1 – Welcome & Setting the Space

Theme: Creating safety, connection, and group norms
Explore what makes the holidays hard and set intentions for the group.
Key concepts: Grounding, trust-building, confidentiality, shared reflection

Week 4 – Coping Tools & Emotional Regulation

Theme: Managing emotional waves
Learn tools for self-soothing, mindfulness, and emotional regulation.
Key concepts: Grounding techniques, mindfulness, coping plan

Week 2 – Understanding Grief During the Holidays

Theme: The many faces of grief
Recognize grief as a nonlinear process and identify your personal triggers.
Key concepts: Emotional awareness, holiday triggers, grief mapping

Week 5 – Connection and Support

Theme: Leaning on others and setting boundaries
Identify your support system and set healthy boundaries with family and friends.
Key concepts: Communication, boundary-setting, support mapping

​Week 3 – Honoring Memories & Traditions

Theme: Finding meaning and ways to remember
Balance old traditions with new ones and create a remembrance ritual.
Key concepts: Symbolic rituals, honoring memories, meaning-making

​Week 6 – Reflection & Moving Forward

​Theme: Closure and integration
Reflect on personal growth and carry forward what you’ve learned.
Key concepts: Gratitude, closure ritual, emotional resilience
