Gia is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who obtained her  Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology after decades of working in publishing and communications/marketing for various multinational corporations. Her life experiences, including living in different countries and raising her children in different cultures, broadens and elevates her compassion and empathy for the complicated pains, hurts and unique suffering of every individual.

 

She has worked with children, teens and adults experiencing a wide variety of mental health concerns, in school-based settings, community mental health and clinic settings. Her specialties include immigration-specific issues like acculturation and  generation gaps, life transition issues like midlife crises and single-parent household relationships. 

 

Gia frequently utilizes Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS)  and mindfulness/stress-reduction therapies. Her approach is very strengths-based and trauma-informed. 

 

She is also bilingual, able to provide therapy in English and Filipino (Tagalog.)

Gia is skilled in establishing rapport with clients to put them at ease and meet them where they are in life. Her experience with diverse client populations – children, adolescents, teens, young and mature adults – dealing with issues like childhood trauma, sexual abuse, grief and loss, midlife crisis and mood disorders is always framed within a culturally-sensitive and trauma-informed lens.
