Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist #120993
I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who provides therapeutic services to children, youth, families and adults who have been impacted by trauma. I have over 5 years of direct clinical experience.
In my career I have had the opportunity to work with a variety of populations, including children with developmental disabilities, monolingual Spanish speaking families, young adults with co-occurring diagnosis, such as addictions, mood disorders and/or psychosis, dissociative disorders, in various community mental health settings, Intensive Outpatient Treatment Facilities and Partial Hospitalization Program clinics, practicing at an Intensive Full Service Partnership for transitional age youth experiencing mental health crises.
I am a first generation, cisgender Latinx woman who identifies with the pronouns she/her/ella. I aim to continually expand on my awareness of how my own race/ethnicity and gender identity could inform my perspective and approach, and I am committed to continuing my growth in learning how to dismantle oppressive systems of power that continue to exist in my personal and professional life.
I prioritize evidence-based therapy practices and rely on well-researched techniques that can give my clients the most transformative care. I am currently being trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and hope to become certified in this treatment modality. Additionally I have received training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Interpersonal Family Systems (IFS). During my graduate school education, received specialized training and education in working with LGBTQ populations and with Latinx populations. I pride myself in providing resources to my clients to help them feel a strong sense of independence and empowerment.
Our therapeutic relationship is of the utmost importance in our work together, and I will create a validating and welcoming environment in which my clients can freely explore their experiences. I work collaboratively with my clients to become in touch with their own authenticity, resilience and strengths as I guide them on their journey toward healing.”
When I am not working I enjoy taking care of my plants, walking my curious chihuahua Pizzu, visiting local gardens, running, hiking, and reading.
